Kelli's character stats
I guess I'll change my secondary skill from martial arts to beam weapons. That's probably a good idea anyway, since my character's a wuss. By the way, I think I forgot to add the racial adjustment to my stats. Here are my stats now: STR/STA: 25/35 (with a beam weapon, my strength shouldn't matter much) DEX/RS: 35/35 INT/LOG: 50/45 (my LOG was 40 before the racial adjustment) PER/LDR: 45/45 Initiative modifier: +4 Punching score: +1 Ranged weapons: 27% (28 if I'm supposed to round up) Melee weapons: 27% (again, 28 with rounding)
Profession: Medic Secondary skill: Beam weapons By the way, my character (Pandora Fleming) has brown hair with some streaks dyed blue, and she has bright blue eyes.
I'm a little confused about how you figure out what equipment to start with. The instructions say you start with 250 credits + a d100 roll. It also says that to make things quick, you can start with a profession-appropriate kit, then do a d100 roll + 100 credits. But all the kits cost 500 credits, which is more than 250 + any d100 roll. So, doing it the "buy a kit and have d100 +100 left" method, I'll buy the medikit (10 kg), and I have 160 left over. With that 160, I'll buy the stuff I'd buy using the "250 +d100" way, which I listed below.
Doing it the "250 +d100" way, I rolled 60 = 310 credits. With that money, I'll buy the standard equipment pack (150 cr. 1 kg.) Contents: Chronocrom Coveralls or uniform with many pouches/pockets Doze Grenade First Aid Pack with bandages, antiseptic, etc. ID Card Pocket Flashlight Pocket Tool Staydose Stimdose Sungoggles Survival Rations (5 days)
I'll also buy an all-weather blanket, one telol, one rope (1 kg), one water pack (4 kg), an everflame, a spear (which gives me + 15 melee, and weighs 1 kg), a frag. grenade, and I have 32 cr. left over.
I'm not sure which option is right. Logan, being the DM, can decide. As you might have noticed, I do not have a beam weapon. The least expensive one was 500 cr.

Basically, anything that is on the character sheet hereIf you want to download the spreadsheet I'm working on that will make character creation a heckuva lot easier, give me your e-mail address and I'll send it to you. But, you will need either Excel or Open Office to work with it.

Brandon's stats
Okay here's the start of my info (I haven't read through all the rules, but since Logan's getting anxious for any kind of response, here's my basic stats):
Name: Sundavar Race: Yazirian Stats: Str/Sta - 41/49 Dex/Rs - 75/65 Int/Log - 45/35 Per/Ldr - 60/70 Initiative Modifier - +7 Punching Score - +3 Ranged Weapons - 37 Melee Weapons - 37 Primary Skill Area - Military Skills - Melee Weapons (PSA), Computer (second skill)
Basic background - Sundavar clearly has a military background. He was one of the Star Law Rangers (see the history section at the beginning of the manual) and was one of the finest swordsmen they had, but was let go because he was framed as being a Sathar operative. (Logan - There's more to it than that, but it's GM's eyes only, so check your messages) Since then, he has picked up computer skills and is able to hack into almost any computer system. The Yazirian's are fierce fighters in general, and Sundavar has a very high code of honor. He's always looking around for a job to do in hopes that he can regain his lost honor.
That's the basics, I haven't gotten as far as equipment and such yet, but this is a basic idea of who I am and what I do.
Question on stats though, are we doing it straight the order you roll them in, or are we picking which rolls we want where? It doesn't matter to me, because they actually landed the way I wanted, but it might to one of the others.
Kelli, obviously, your primary skill will be the medic one, but what is your other skill? Also, what's everybody else leaning towards? Our party now has a fighter and a healer, but we'll still need someone who is technically minded.

I'm thinking we never got jason's stats, casue i never found them. I never came up with a background story for my character, i'm not sure if that was necessary or not, but i'm horrible at coming up with them (i rather lack in the creativity department), so if its not required, i'd rather not, but if i need to, i will...

Here's a re-post of my character (Pandora Fleming)'s backstory:
My character's back story is loosely based on the myth Pandora's namesake comes from. If, for some reason, the back story wouldn't work well with this game, let me know. I'm not opposed to changing it. Pandora was taking a sight-seeing trip on a foreign planet when a merchant gave her a beautiful box. Knowing about the threat of Slathar agents and knowing that people don't give tourists valuable boxes just for kicks, Pandora decided to ask the local police to look over the box and make sure there was no bomb, tracking device or other dangerous thing inside. But the police station was a ways away, and Pandora was just too curious about what was in the beautiful box. She decided to just take a peek. After all, what were the chances that a Slathar agent had singled her out and decided to give her something dangerous? Pandora opened the lid just a crack and whoosh! A black cloud exploded out. It was a cloud of alien organism s similar to bacteria. They produce a chemical that intensifies nearly all health problems. The Slathar wanted it to spread though the planets and weaken the health and morale of those fighting them. After Pandora recovered from a bad flu that had originally only been a slight cold, she and top biosocial scientists worked to develop a cure for the chemical. Eventually, they not only discovered something to neutralize the chemical and kill the "bacteria," but the antidote (which Pandora discovered by studying residue inside the box), actually tends to make people healthier than they were before the "bacteria" infected them. Pandora now wants to travel known space, spreading her antidote to places not yet reached by the relief effort. She also wants to study new plants and animals in hopes of developing more medicines.
Sound good? [dice=10] Because I enjoy the dice button ;D

Brandon: For simplicity's sake, I'm going to have everyone keep the rolls the get where they got them. The usual switching between paired abilities will still be allowed, but nothing beyond that.
Additionally, all our characters skills are at level one. You can be a good swordsman, but you would only be one of the finest if there were no other Star Law Rangers that were sword fighters.
Kelli: Like Brandon, your backstory would make sense if you were a powerful figure, but given the fact that your primary medical skill (whatever it is) will be only at level one, it is doubtful that you would be working with the leading scientists in the field, since you're basically a first year medical grad student or worse.
Melinda: You don't need to have a complete background immediately, but knowing what motivates your character and letting me know the same will help me design a plot that will interest your character, and thus make his/her participation believable. Furthermore, it really makes the game fun if you have at least 3 potential plot hooks for your character. For example, if your character is attempting to avenge the death of her mother, then I have a way of making a game that involves something to do with her mother, and thus a reason why she would want to participate.
Everybody: Have at least 3 plot hooks for your characters (see my reply to Melinda for details). Also, if you can, establish some sort of hook that would have your characters working together.

Okay, I'll have the game running soon, I promise. I have been and still am out of town visiting family, and cannot find a moment to sit and think, so hopefully that excuse will pardon my noted absence from the forums.

I was talking to Brandon the other day, and he said that he, Erick, and Jason are doing a physical (rather than on computer) RPG game up at school, and he doubts that the forum one will actually come to pass. I hope you're wrong, Brandon!
