Alright so I know how much everyone on the board likes to roleplay but as for me I tend to like guidlines in my roleplaying plus i like games so what I have been thinking of doing is starting a Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 or pathfinder game on the forums. I'd gladly help people set up characters and teach them. We need to figure out how this would work. I'd probably do the dice role and the game mastering. Anyway post your thoughts concerns and what you'd all like to do.

That sounds like a fun plan to me. I'd have to re-learn, and I don't know how which edition Brandon has, but I'll participate as much as I am able.

Well we got a couple options we could play 3.5 or 2nd edition because those I have access to or we can play pathfinder which is basically 3.75 and fixes a lot of problems including fixing some of the wizards and combat problems

well I know 3.5, but as for something that fixes the Wizards problems that would be nice (what does it actually do?)

For those who want to brush up on D&D version 3.5, here's all of the rules: d20 SRDI'd be willing to play, but I'm none to fond of the medieval setting. Any chance of putting a modern twist on a classic game?

I've never played D&D, but I'll give it a shot. Just keep in mind that I have no idea what I'm doing. Have it be medieval or modern. Either works for me.

Alright so first to answer Brandon. Wizards in the pathfinder game have been given cantrips which basically means that they can cast there 0 level spells as many times as they want. They have two offensive spells with means that you aren't left casting say one magic missile at low level then dodging around for the rest of the fight. There are a couple others but they are mostly non combat oriented if you want to look at them you can go to www.d20pfsrd.com/ those are the SRDs take a look around see what you think. Alright now for the rest. Now as for future game the only rule set I really have that is angled for future is Mutant future which is a post apocalyptic world. It's free to download and its an old school game which would probably be better for this group as there is more role playing and less dice rolling then 3.5. Although I do have the jags system which is pretty much base system that I could add to. they have a alice in wonderland module for it but if you give me some time I can probably get something done. I'll just need to know what kind of futuristic game you want and I can see what I can do.

This is the next issue we need to decide is how we are going to play we have really two options. We could use skype which is basically a free internet phone and meet up on a night and play together. Or we can do it right here on the forum its slower but more convienite as we don't have to take time out at a specific time but you lose alot of interaction. I vote for skype and do it just one night a week. But I would like to hear what you all want to do.

Having looked at both of these rules options, I still tend towards the standard medieval style fantasy i.e. the Pathfinder (D&D 3.5 ish) game.

I'd be game to try out a more modern variation. I'd settle for either, but I'd like to go with the one that appeals to the majority.

The problem is there is no majority. We have me for medieval, Erick for modern, and you and Kelli for whatever everybody wants to. I'm game for a normal modern one, but this one Logan has seems really weird and alienesque, not like just having guns and such.

I think the forum version would work better for me. Since it's two hours later for me than for you, I think it'd be hard to set up a time that works for everyone. Also, I don't have a web-cam (would I need one?).
When I looked at the instructions that Erick put a link to, my eyes nearly glazed over. So many rules.

You wouldn't need a web cam, just a microphone of some sort on your computer (which many comps have by default.) And yeah, those are the basic rules, but you don't need to know all of them. It actually is quite a simple thing. Basically any time you want to do something, you roll a die and try and get the highest roll. Everything else deals with things like how many dice you get to roll, and any additions to it. That's the rules in a nut shell

I vote for the forum as well.
Kelli, there are a lot of rules, but I have a feeling that most of the people here already know them and could figure out how your descriptions would translate in terms of the game. Basically, you'd say what you want to do, and Logan could tell you what dice you need to roll.
