Kunar sat there, thinking. He seemed to be weighing the consequences in his mind. Finally, he seemed to make up his mind. "The other three appeared one day, seemingly innocent people. They were unaware of their powers at the time. A few days later, however, as they became aware that they possessed powers that others did not, they began to seek to rule over us. Before they could establish full control, both our villages united and ran them out. We hear that they have subjugated other villages away from here, but those are only rumors. When we heard that you had appeared, we feared that the same thing would happen again. That is why we attacked." Kunar leaned back in the chair he was sitting in, folded his arms, and looked at the group.

Mithrandir looked at the other's in the group and they appeared to be as surprised at he was. Who were these people and how did they get here? For that matter, how did our group get here? That was a question for another day, right now, they had to deal with the current situation.
Mithrandir addressed the hearing, saying, "We have no intention to do that. In fact, I believe I speak for our whole group when I say that we would rather liberate the other villages these people have taken over. We only want to get back to our home, but since we are here, we may as well help you guys out."

Doelcm nodded. It'd be good to help these people, and maybe the three other strangers have an idea of how to get home. "Where should we start?"

"Well, first off, we better find out where exactly these villages are. Kinda hard to go help liberate them if we have no idea where they are." The others nodded, and Erk continued on. "Second, we should see who's willing to come help us, and what we can do about supplies. Those are always nice to have around." Erk glanced over at Sarala, trying to gaige her reaction to his ideas. She had been there longer than the rest of them. And there was something about her. Something . . .

"The rumors say that the villages they've taken over are some about three days journey from here," Sarala said, "There are a few villages nearer us who could help us, if they would be willing to. Hopefully the help you guys gave us during the attack will gain their trust, not their fear."

The Head Elder stood up. "Kunar could help with that." Turining to him, the Elder continued, " Instead of imprisoning you, which is well within our rights, this council has decided that you will take these allies," he said sternly, not allowing for a contradiction, "to your village and outfit them with whatever they need."

"Furthermore," he continued, "Lady Sarala will accompany you to see that you give your full support to our allies. You will not say anything against them to your villagers."

"Unless you would rather stay in our prison." With that, the High Elder sat down.

It didn't take Kunar long to make up his mind. "Very well, I will do as you ask. But be warned, if these visitors show any inclination to do what the others did, we will not hesitate to take matters into our own hands."

"I don't have a problem with that," Doelcm replied, "We don't plan on making any trouble." The hearing adjourned and the Allies left to pack their few belongings for the trip. Soon after they finished, Sarala entered. "Perhaps it would be helpful if we practiced our powers together. We'll need all the practice we can get, since the troublemakers have been able to practice their powers for a number of months, rather just than a few days. It would also be good if we knew more about each others powers." The group decided this was a good idea, so Sarala led them to an open field where they could all practice without damaging anything important. On the way there, the group learned that Sarala had been in this strange land for about a year already, and so had had lots of practice with her powers.

Erk followed a ways behind, watching them all go. Once they reached the field, he located a stump that would be a good target. Reaching down, he picked up three stones and a few twigs. Heating one of the stones in his hand, he threw it at the stumpe. It exploded against the wood with a shower of sparks. "Cool. Home made grenades." Erk proceeded to do the same with the remaining two stones, then lit one of the sticks on fire. Holding it like a javelin in his hand, he aim, then threw the flaming stick. It flew about 20 yards, then landed point first in the ground. The fire had spread along the entire stick during it's flight, so there was a burning torch sticking out of the ground, which Erk quickly extinguished so it wouldn't spread. He then proceeded to practice twirling the other stick, which was about 6 feet long and sturdy. Out of the corner of his eye, he watched Sarala, trying to figure out exactly what her powers were.

Doelcm noticed Erk's curiosity, and decided to satisfy it. "Hey Sarala, what's your power, and how did you get it? We got ours when we came to this place."

"I can control light," Sarala answered. "Watch this." She created a tiny glowing orb between her hands, which grew bigger and brighter. "But lighting the way is only one thing I can do." Sarala proceeded to turn the orb into an image--a flower so real Doelcm tried to touch it. When she did, her hand went right through it, and she laughed with delight. "As for how I got my powers, it was same way all of you did. I just had them when I entered this world."

"Where did you come from and how did you get here?" Mithrandir asked. He also was curious about Sarala. In the meantime, he was doing some target practice with his lightning bolts. He knew they needed to be ready if they were going to become heroes.

Erk stared in amazement at the demonstration Sarala was putting on. He was utterly captivated. He'd always been one who'd liked to watch performances, but this was beyond anything he'd ever seen. This was . . . absolutely incredible. The light, the color, the amazing reality of it, and the person who was controlling the show . . . amazing.
