"We're almost there, hurry!"
Erk and the others ran along the cracked pavement, towards a dark building with shattered windows and doors hanging from hinges.
"Are you sure they're in there?" asked Tarak, running along side Doelcm.
"They are, or at least Sarala is." Erk picked up even more speed, the prospect of finally seeing Sarala again giving him strength he didn't didn't know he had. Crashing through the first door, Erk navigated the once-familiar hallways and stairways, following the continually strengthening link. Finally, only one door lay ahead of him. That door burst open and Sarala came rushing out.
"Erk!"
Erk ran forward and swept Sarala up in a hug, grateful to see her unhurt and alive.
"You're alright." Erk barely noticed Shilm coming out from the doorway as well, nor the others as they came to a stop behind them. Reluctantly, Erk let Sarala go, and though slightly embarrassed at his reaction (he could see Sarala was as well), he resumed a more serious attitude.
"I'm glad to see you're both okay."
"We're glad you're alright as well," said Shilm, extending a hand, which Erk shook. "We thought you were long lost on a different world."0
"We were," explained Doclem, "but our crystals allowed us to reach here."
"You found your crystal as well?"
"Yes."
Doelcm showed Shilm and Sarala her necklace, which both looked at with wonderment.
'We can't be far from the end now,' thought Erk, putting an arm around Sarala's shoulders.
'I hope not,' Sarala replied.

Alira stood observing the joyful reunion. She smiled, and her small smile was tainted with neither malice nor pride. It was nice to see people so happy just to see their friends and know that they're safe. With Lucrecia, most of the happiness Alira saw was caused by someone else's pain.
But, there were more important things to do than chat.
"Yes, we're pleased that everyone is alright, but we won't stay that way long in we just stand around." she said, raising her voice to break through the crowd of voices. Looking at Lady Doelcm, she asked, "What do we do now?"

(Where do the crystals come from? WHy does each of the Empowered have one? I dont' remember . . .)
"Well, first order of business, I would think, would be to find Shilm's and Sarala's crystals," said Doelcm.
"How do you know we have crystals?" Sarala asked.
" . . . Umm, I don't. But I found mine when I touched Erk's knife, so maybe our crystals will lead you to yours."
"Wait--let's not all split up again," Erk said. (Doelcm looked at Kor with a smirk; they both knew exactly what he was talking about--or rather, who he was talking about.)
To save Erk the un-sublity of choosing which group he would be in, Doelcm took charge. "Okay, Tarak, Alira and I will go with Shilm. Erk, you and Kor go with Sarala. Now, make sure everyone in your group is touching."
"I think you've got that one covered," Kor winked mockingly at Erk, as he finished the connection by poking Erk in the shoulder. Tarak put his hand on Doelcm's shoulder, as did Shilm. Alira stepped on Tarak's foot.
"Hey!" He tried to remove his foot.
"What are you doing? Don't break the connection." Alira looked up at him with her best "innocent" face, quickly melting it into a smirk.
Thus connected, Erk handed his knife to Sarala and he, Kor and Sarala disappeared.
"I guess we know she has a crystal then. Alright, our turn." With that, Doelcm handed her necklace to Shilm and they too vanashed.
(by the way, we stole Kor back again. You can still have him on loan whenever you need him.)

rachael, emiko, kor, and torry were going along their way, with nothing bothering them, and nothing seeming to be wrong. suddenly, rachael turned to everyone else.
"i think that someone is following us. we should....do something about it."
"like hide?" asked kor.
"um...yeah!"
"right. where should we hide?"
"there's a river over there. we could hide there"
"how do you hide in a river. and besides that, i cant swim if it requires swimming" said emiko, joining in their conversation.
"no, we take reeds, make sure they are hollow, and lay in the bottom of the river, breathing through the reeds"
"and no one will notice 1,2,3,4..four random reeds in the middle of the river? and where do you propose we get those reeds from, kor, since you seem to have an idea of how this all works"
"i happen to have some reeds in my bag. enough for everyone. and...maybe the people following us wont notice that there arent other reeds in the river. yeah." said kor, looking very uncertian with the plan now that there were some obvoius flaws in the plan.
"well" said torry "we should at least try something. and if it doesnt work, i'll be comming up with a plan b for when we run away cause they discover us."
"okay. all agreed"
"agreed"
so, they took kor's reeds, and went and layed down in the middle of the river, hoping that their persuers were rather dense.
as they were hiding in the river, torry was indeed scheming a plan up. trying to decide what it is that they could do, after their pursuers saw them, and they were trying to run away. would they even have time to run away? probably not. then what was the point in comming up with a plan? there wasnt one. i'll just explaine that to them all if we get caught. 'specially since, as i said, we wont have time to run away.
their pursuers must have been just as dense as the travelers were thinking that they would be, because they didnt seem to notice that the travelers were suddenly missing, and that there were suddenly four reeds sticking up out of a very clear stream, where there were no other reeds.
one large factor in their sucessful escape might have been from the fact that they were running from large squirlles, that rachael, who has very keen ears, was able to hear.
after they got out of the stream, the travelers started wandering around, trying to find out which way their pursuers went, so they could follow them and become the pursuers, instead of the pursued. but they didnt find any sort of signs of the pursuers anywhere.
"they must have been good at covering up their tracks. i'm surprised you even heard them, just from the looks of things"
"yeah, well, i guess they just gave up on us after a while, and so we lost them. or something."
"well, no harm done. dinner anyone?"

The book version is going slowly, but Jill and I are going to work on it some more today.

Shilm looked around at everyone making sure that they were alright.
"Alira, Doelcm are you two alright?" Asked Shilm.
"We are both alright." Replied Alira in a calm voice.
"Well, i suggest that we don't separate to much we don't know much about this world, but we much be careful, we aren't sure of the dangers, but you two would know all about it wouldn't you." Said Shilm as he looked over the Horizon.
" Shilm, we must work quickly to find your crystal." Said Doelcm.
Shilm grasped the crystal and waited for a sign, but there was no reaction from the necklace.
"what is going on?" Asked Alira.
"Hmm...I don't know." said Doelcm
"What excatly did you do before to make Erk's crystal respond to you?" Asked Shilm
" The crystal must work when it is needed. I guess it has a different agenda than we do at this time." Said Doelcm
"Apparently" said Shilm
Shilm walked to the edge of the cliff and sat down, and began to meditate.
"what are you doing?" Said Alira
Shilm said nothing.
"So are we just going to wait?" Asked alira
"Yes, so sit down!!" said Shilm in a annoyed voice.
Alira and Doelcm sat down next to Shilm awaiting for a sign from the crystal.

it happened sometime in the winter semester while you werent there. they started to really talk about turning it into a book, and i think that they started it into a book, right before jason left on his mission. please, jill and kelli, correct me if i'm wrong
