Mithrandir may have been content to wait and see, but Erk was getting a little restless, and a little suspicious. Erk and never been one to really follow others completely. Reaching down, Erk picked up a stone off of the ground. Even though he could shoot flames out of his hand, Erk still wanted something solid to throw. Willing forth a little flame, he heated the rock in his hand, keeping it out of sight of the natives.

The natives, still suspicious about the intents of these newcomers, brought them before the Elders. The High Elder, the oldest and wisest of them all, looked down at the companions for several minutes, then spoke. "What mysterious powers do you all possess?"

Mithrandir, not wanting to be too specific (especially in Erk's case), said to the High Elder:
"Oh wise Elder. We each hold some mysterious power, I have the power to control the weather, my friends also have odd powers, including the ability to hover in the air and to make holes appear in things. Could you tell us how we have come to hold these powers?"

Still not quite willing to trust them, Erk, tossed the rock up and down in his palm. "And power do you posses?" Erk looked up at the High Elder, then caught his rock. Lifting his other hand, he summoned forth a small flame in his palm. People throughout the entire hall dove for cover, and the High Elder shrank back. Erk put the flame out, then continued tossing the rock in his palm. "Don't worry, as long as you don't harm me or my friends, I'll keep the flame away."

Doelcm wasn't sure that that scareing the natives was the best thing that could have been done, but it should make them think twice if they wanted to be hostile. "High Elder, my friends and I didn't come to do you or your people harm. We would rather be allies. We need a place to stay for the night; is there any work we can do to earn some money? I'm sure that with our powers, there's something helpful we can do."

Mithrandir was very grateful for Doelcm at that moment. If anybody could calm them down it was her. He was very angry with Erk for trying to scare them like that. After all, he was trying to make peace and be their ally as friends, not frighten them into being our allies! However, it seemed Doelcm's comment had the desired effect and the natives came out again. After a short conversation, one of the natives led the group to some rooms and told them that this is where they should stay for the night.

Content that the natives wouldn't try any funny stuff, Erk sat down on his bed and began to think. Why in the world were they in this weird place? Who was this person they were talking about, who had caused such mayhem and destruction. More than anything, that ticked Erk off. Even in war, you never attack civilians. During peacetime . . . Erk threw his rock, which had cooled down, against the far wall in anger.

About halfway through that night, chaos started. The group was immediately woken up by all of the noise. It sounded like there was a war going on. As they rushed out to investigate, Mithrandir noticed the distinct smell of things burning in the air. He was worried that Erk had, for no apparant reason, started lighting things on fire, or that it was the previous visitor, back to finish the job that he had started. Mithrandir hoped that it was the latter as he rushed out, prepared to do whatever he could to help their new friends. If it was the other visitor, perhaps they could get some answers as to why they were in this world.

Erk did happen to be outside, but he was not the cause of the flame. Well, not most of it. What had happened was a rival village, hearing that more of the mysterious visitors had arrived, had declared war on the village they were in, hoping to rid the world of the newcomers before they could do any damage. The natives who's village the group was residing in, who were known as the Kornag, had been caught unawares, and the flame catapults of the enemy were wreaking havoc among the village. Determined to help those around him, Erk, who had been out walking around, enjoying the cool night air and thinking more, had launched his own assault against the invading forces, igniting their siege weapons. Erk also discovered that he could redirect existing flames, or even extinguish them at will.

Mithrandir raised his hand and created a downpour of rain over the Kornag's village. While doing that, he suddenly realized that his power had an offensive capability as well. Calling upon all his power, he brought down a series of lightning bolts onto the enemy's weapons. Those that weren't burning were now. Several of them were damaged and the enemy began to fall back.

By this time, Doelcm, a heavy sleeper, finally woke up and looked around for the source of the noise. Many of the tree-buildings were on fire. Seeing people in some of the upper stories of the buildings, Doelcm started climbing up the tree, just as she had when she first discovered her power. Except this time, instead of climbing down with the people, she opened holes in the floors, and she and the natives jumped down from story to story, picking up more people on the way.

Things were starting to calm down. Seeing the powers of the newcomers, the enemy retreated (with a few lightning bolts chasing them away). As Mithrandir continued to try and put out the fires, he suddenly felt weak. Apparantly, these powers take a lot out of you. He began to worry about the people still in the village. As he turned around, he saw Doelcm helping them get down. To make things easier for her, he stopped the storm around that area. This last effort proved to be too much and he fell unconscious on the ground.

Erk stumbled around, trying to keep his vision straight. Having used so much of his energy, he wasn't sure if he could keep going for much longer. As he continued to try to head toward the village, he noticed the clouds disappearing overhead as the rain began to stop. As the rain stopped, Erk felt a little better, and stood up straight and stopped moving. Looking around, he saw that people were making it out of the trees safely, and that the threat from the invaders was no longer worth his attention. Already, native troops had began to work to finish the rout he and the others had started.

Doelcm reached the ground and looked around, the invaders were retreating, chased by the villagers. She noticed one of the invaders, an important looking one with a brightly colored helmet, had been captured and was being taken in the direction of the Elders tree. Looking around some more, she noticed Mithrandir laying on the ground and ran over to see what was wrong with him. When she got there, she was relieved to discover that he was uninjured. With Erk's help, Doelcm got MIthrandir up to his room, then went to help the villagers who had gotten injured in during the battle.

Erk went out to help as much as he could with the search for survivors and casualties. Lighting flames in both his hands, he provided light for those who were searching. However, he wasn't able to help for long. Soon he began to wobble from loss of energy, and had to sit down, extinguishing his flames.
