How on earth is "La-a" pronounced "Ladasha?"
Another "are you an idiot" name: This lady wanted to name her baby after an actress names Tempest something, but there was a typo involved somewhere (I think it was where she read the actress' name), and she named her daughter "Temptress." And no, she didn't know until later what that word even meant.

I love black people names. For example, the Elders and us were having a contest to see who could come up with the best black person name that day. They won with the name "Starkisha" how cool of a name is that?!

"Starkisha" crosses over the weirdness line for me, but I admit it looks nice on the page. @ Brandon's June 19th post: Are you serious? That poor girl is going to have to correct people's pronunciation of her name her entire life. Punctuation marks are not supposed to be pronounced! @ Jason: Amen. @ Brandon's last post: That's gross. See Jason's last post. I"m glad that when my parents named me they were got creative enough to 1) not give me a name as common as dirt, and 2) use a spelling that's not the #1 normal way, but is still an accepted, time honored spelling. Not like, Celea, or something ( the "C" = a hard c, like in "Celtic," and the "ea" like "eat" without the "t.") The first segment of this clip fits perfectly: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AH_Zz1jPUc

those are great. Why can't we all just have easy names? (of course, hearing people try and pronounce lovesee is pretty funny)

easy names can still be confusing. Nielson for example, you would think would be easy. but people ask me all the time "now, do you say that NIELson or NELson?" it gets annoying. I'll usually just spell it out for them

not fair. I have to spell both my names to people. what is your name? is your last name this or this? and then, of course, when they want to write it down, then i really do have to spell it out. ah well. must be nice having a straightforward name.
Kelli, i bet you ran into spelling your name a lot too, yes?

I don't even bother having people try and guess how to spell my name. If they ask for my last name, I'll say "lovesee, L-O-V-E-S-E-E"
