my sister had her baby!! he's a cute little boy the best thing about this (in quite a few regards) is that i probably will never end up being mindy mommy to him. so although i enjoy being involved in my niece and nephew's lives, its for the better

long story...
i've basically watched and raised one of my other sisters kids since they were infants, mom didn't help me out much, and my sister was never home. they slept overnight at our house more times than i can count while she was working, and now one of them still lives with us. i'm not really mindy mommy any more, because i left for a mission, and other such, but i'm still definately their favourite aunt.

Being a favorite is definitely a plus. I'm definitely not a favorite uncle. Have to be an uncle (or in your case, aunt) before you can be a favorite.

I'm a favorite of Hailey's. Fairly often, even if Jill is holding her, Hailey will reach over and want me to hold her instead. This morning, Dad and Hailey were in the loft when I got up. I played with Hailey for a bit, then started to leave. Hailey squealed. If she could speak, she would have said, "No, Aunt Kelli, that is not allowed. You have to stay with me." She hadn't even been playing with me when I tried to leave.
It's really cute how she'll crawl over to me and grab my pant legs to pull herself up. And if I don't pick her up, she'll probably squeal.

especially to small children. we first thought that was why the kids liked me so much, cause i look a LOT like their mom. i'm not so sure about it any more, since gabriel didn't like me much (until the day he left )

yes, we all look a lot alike. even rachel and dante look like a nielson. i would take them to the store, and people would ask "are those your kids?" i should see if i have a family picture i can show you at some point.

Now, Hailey's not confused. She knows exactly who her mommy is and who Aunt Kelli is. She went through a phase where only the mama would do. Even if Joseph was holding Hailey and Jill was playing with her, that was not enough. Jill had to be the one holding her. Now, fairly often, Jill will be holding Hailey, and Hailey will lean over and reach for me. And sometimes when I'm holding her and Jill wants to take her, Hailey will push Jill's hands away.

Hailey was using a kitchen chair like a push toy today She walked around the island in the kitchen over and over, pushing that chair. I helped make the chair go the right direction, and pushed sometimes, but mostly, it was Hailey. I bet she'll be walking soon ;D
